CP & Evolution Calculator

How to Use the Pokemon GO Calculator

CP Calculation

Combat Power (CP) represents your Pokemon’s overall strength in battles. Our calculator uses the official Pokemon GO formula to determine your Pokemon’s exact CP based on its level and Individual Values (IVs).

CP = FLOOR(((Attack + Attack IV) × √(Defence + Defence IV) × √(Stamina + Stamina IV) × CPM²) ÷ 10)

Evolution Predictions

When you evolve a Pokemon, its CP changes based on the evolution multiplier specific to each species. The calculator predicts your Pokemon’s CP after evolution, helping you decide which Pokemon to evolve first.

Individual Values (IVs)

IVs are hidden stats that make each Pokemon unique. They range from 0-15 for Attack, Defence, and Stamina. Higher IVs result in stronger Pokemon with higher maximum CP potential.

Pokemon GO Mechanics Guide

Combat Power Multiplier (CPM)

CPM is a level-based scaling factor that increases as your Pokemon levels up. Each level from 1 to 50 has a specific CPM value that directly affects your Pokemon’s CP calculation.

Stardust Investment Strategy

Before investing Stardust and Candy to power up your Pokemon, use our calculator to determine if the CP gains justify the resource cost. Focus on Pokemon with high IVs for maximum efficiency.

Evolution Requirements

Different Pokemon require varying amounts of Candy to evolve. Some also need special items like Evolution Stones or require specific conditions such as walking distances or time of day.

Battle League Considerations

For Great League (1500 CP limit) and Ultra League (2500 CP limit), sometimes lower Attack IVs are preferred to maximise bulk whilst staying under the CP cap.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum CP for Pokemon in Pokemon GO?
The maximum CP varies by Pokemon species. Legendary Pokemon like Mewtwo can reach over 4000 CP, whilst common Pokemon like Pidgey have much lower maximum CP values. Each Pokemon’s CP is capped at level 50.
How do I check my Pokemon’s IVs in the game?
Use the in-game Appraise feature by tapping on a Pokemon and selecting “Appraise”. Your team leader will provide hints about your Pokemon’s IVs through star ratings and specific comments about its strongest stats.
Should I evolve Pokemon with low CP but high IVs?
Generally yes, especially for rare Pokemon. High IV Pokemon will always outperform low IV versions of the same species at the same level. You can always power up CP later with Stardust, but you cannot change IVs.
When should I power up Pokemon before evolving?
It makes no difference whether you power up before or after evolution – the final CP will be the same. However, it’s often more cost-effective to evolve first to ensure you get the moveset you want before investing Stardust.
What are Lucky Pokemon and how do they affect CP?
Lucky Pokemon require 50% less Stardust to power up, making them excellent candidates for maxing out. Their IVs are guaranteed to be at least 12/12/12, ensuring strong base stats for competitive play.
How does Pokemon level affect CP calculation?
Pokemon level directly impacts CP through the Combat Power Multiplier (CPM). Higher levels have higher CPM values, resulting in increased CP. Each power-up increases your Pokemon’s level by 0.5.
