Estimated Priority Service Cost
Extra priority or super priority service cost before optional visa fee fields.
What This Visa Cost Estimate Covers
This calculator is for the optional paid processing service, not visa eligibility. It can also add the main visa application fee, Immigration Health Surcharge, biometric appointment extras, courier fees, travel and a small payment buffer if you want a wider cash plan. The priority fee is multiplied by applicant because each applicant normally needs their own paid service where it is available.
UK visa fees and service availability can change. Priority and super priority services are not available for every route, every location, every appointment date or every applicant. A paid faster service does not guarantee that an application will be granted, and some applications take longer if checks, documents or interviews are needed. Always check the official fee page and the booking screen before paying.
Formula Used
Priority service cost = number of applicants x priority fee per applicant.
Visa application fee total = number of applicants x visa fee per applicant.
Immigration Health Surcharge total = number of applicants x IHS per applicant.
Appointment extras total = number of applicants x biometric or service-centre extras.
Subtotal = priority service cost + visa fee total + IHS total + appointment extras + travel, courier or document cost.
Payment buffer = subtotal x buffer percentage.
Total cash plan = subtotal + payment buffer.
Worked Examples
One Applicant, Priority
One applicant using a £500 priority service has an extra processing-service cost of £500. If they add £60 travel cost and a 3% payment buffer, the wider cash plan becomes £576.80 before any visa fee or IHS entries.
Family Of Four
Four applicants using a £500 priority service create £2,000 of priority fees. If the route also has visa fees and IHS, the total payment can be much higher. Each dependant should be counted.
Super Priority
A £1,000 super priority service for two applicants is £2,000 before appointment extras. It may be worth pricing standard, priority and super priority side by side before booking.
Priority Service Planning Table
| Service choice | Cost pattern | Planning caution |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | No optional priority fee. | Processing time may be longer, so check travel dates before applying. |
| Priority | Often priced per applicant. | Availability can vary by route and appointment location. |
| Super priority | Higher fee per applicant. | Not all applications can use it; extra checks may still delay a decision. |
| Custom fee | Use the booking screen amount. | Best when the official screen shows a different price. |
Before Paying For Priority
Check the official visa route, fee table, appointment provider, document upload rules, biometric appointment availability and decision-service wording. If a travel date is close, priority may help, but it does not repair missing documents, eligibility issues or mistakes in the form. If you need a passport for other travel, check whether the service keeps it during processing. If applying from outside the UK, local currency, card fees and exchange rates can change the final charge.
For family applications, check whether everyone needs the same service. Some applicants may be tied to the main applicant’s application, while others still pay their own fee. Keep receipts and booking confirmations. If the paid service is unavailable, do not assume it can be added later.
What This Calculator Does Not Decide
It does not decide eligibility, visa route, evidence, English-language rules, financial requirements, sponsor duties, suitability, overstaying consequences, appeal rights or refund entitlement. It also does not promise a decision time. For regulated immigration advice, use a qualified immigration adviser, solicitor or the official guidance for the route.
Document And Timing Checklist Before Booking
Before paying for a faster service, check that the application form, passport, sponsor evidence, financial evidence, translations, tuberculosis certificate where required, English-language evidence and consent documents are ready. A priority fee is poor value if the application then waits because documents are missing or unclear. Keep a folder with the payment receipt, appointment confirmation, upload confirmation and courier tracking if used.
If travel is planned, compare the service wording with the actual travel date. Some routes describe a target decision time after biometrics, not after starting the online form. Public holidays, local appointment capacity, extra checks and requests for more evidence can add time. If the passport is needed for another reason, check whether it will be retained during processing or whether a keep-my-passport option exists for that route and location.
For families, build the payment plan before starting the form. Visa fee, IHS, priority service, appointment extras and courier costs can each multiply by applicant. A card limit or bank security check can interrupt payment if the total is higher than expected.
Refund And Availability Caution
Do not assume a paid faster service can be refunded simply because a decision is later than hoped. Refund rules depend on the route, service provider and reason for delay. If the service is not available when you book biometrics, the calculator can still show what it would have cost, but the official booking system decides what can actually be purchased.
Keep screenshots or saved copies of the fee screen, because applicants often need to explain later which optional services were selected and which were not.
FAQ
Is the priority service fee per person?
It is commonly charged per applicant where available. Count dependants separately unless the official booking screen says otherwise.
Does priority guarantee visa approval?
No. It is a paid processing service, not an approval guarantee.
Can every visa route use super priority?
No. Availability depends on route, location and booking capacity.
Should I add the main visa fee?
Add it if you want a fuller cash plan. Leave it at zero if you only want the extra priority service cost.
Why add a payment buffer?
A buffer can help with exchange-rate movement, card charges or small service-centre extras. It is not an official fee.
Can the fee change after I calculate?
Yes. Check the official GOV.UK fee page and the booking screen before payment.
